Chapter 9 in BBG discusses how review is a crucial part in writing a paper. It is so much easier to focus on a topic and getting your thoughts out during your first draft, and then go back and clean up what needs to be fixed. I know that for me the hardest part about writing a paper is choosing a topic and organizing all of my thoughts. First drafts are designed to get your thoughts out on paper, then we can use peer review and we can review our own papers. I always tend to find that peer reviews are the most helpful because it is good to get a different opinion and have a fresh set of eyes on your paper. In my first draft my main goal is to get as many ideas on paper as possible for my topic, and then from there I will start making changes to have a polished final draft.
